Living Wills are also known as Advance Medical Directives and are intended to be a written statement explaining your wishes in the event of end of life medical decisions needing to be made.
Living Wills are particularly useful if you wish to refuse treatment (or only receive a certain type of treatment) or have religious or ethical presences, which Doctors must consider to determine their advice and next steps about your treatment options. Your Living Will is personalised to suit your own preferences for care and treatment. Once signed, your Living Will should be noted on your Doctor and Hospital records, for future reference.
Your wishes for treatment preferences can also be incorporated into a Lasting Power of Attorney for Health and Welfare. Under these Powers of Attorney your chosen person or people (called your Attorneys) can make a large range of decisions on your behalf, in the event that you are unable to make your own decisions.
We aim, so far as possible, to have fixed fees for Living Wills and the following is a guideline of expected costs:-
Living Will (single person) £100
Living Wills (couple) £180
